Buttercream Bugs

Christine is a dear friend, awesome photographer (check out her Captured by Christine FB page here), and terrific party thrower.  This is just a fraction of her talent!  Seriously.

She asked for ladybug cupcakes in traditional ladybug colors and style.  Her daughter, Ellie, turned 8!  I wish I had pictures of the actual party to share.  It was the cutest thing!

These photos were taken by Christine.  After I received these, I couldn't even bear to post my own!  Anyway, enjoy the ladybug-ness.

Thank you, Christine!
Happy 8th, Ellie!!!

Lots o' Babies!

Marlana is one of my most loyal customers.  Her most recent order was for these for her sweet daughter's 2nd birthday.  This time she was throwing a big baby shower.  She ordered cookie favors, Petites AND cupcakes!  Whew!
Do you prefer a wide-eyed baby or a sleeper?

Marlana requested the baby faces packaged
in my plastic rounds.  They were the perfect fit!
A small sticker to say thanks to the guests.
 She ordered 6 dozen Petites
in two shades of pink.
This is just small sampling of the large load of Petites.
Not the best pic, but I decorated the
cupcakes to look like hydrangea.

Thank you so much, Marlana!

A Good Excuse

Well...I'm behind again.  So many orders and so little time.  If it's any consolation, I've been working a lot on this...

Our house is for sale and getting it ready after living in it for 7 years has been a large job!  We started our journey as a family of 2 and end it here (hopefully) as a family of 5 (including Lucy).  So anyway, my time has been spent cleaning, staging, and from time to time, stressing!

Here are some orders I've neglected to post.  Please forgive the not-so-lovely photography.  Things have been busy and I found myself almost forgetting to take pics most of the time!

This was for a friend of mine, Lindsey.
Her son had a Disney party for turning 3
Thank you, Lindsey!!

Cupcakes and cookies for a baby shower.
The theme was booties and lots of PINK!
Thank you to my returning customer, Ashley!

Megan hosted a baby shower to match the
new baby's nursery!
It was fun to do these spring-like cookies
during a very cold and snowy week in Ohio!
Thanks, Megan!
These were just a fun little addition for my
dear friend, Barb.
We celebrated her birthday at PF Changs
and ended with a sparkly cookie.
It was a fun reason to do shoes.

I have more to post.
I hope to get back soon!

Another Go At The Kitty!

Way back in the summer, I did an order for that cute kitty we all know.  Well, I had to hand cut each cookie, decorate with detail and then ship them off to a person in PA.  It was quite a project that took place the same week I was packing for our vacation.  Whew!

Well, this order was much more pleasant and turned out to be one of my favorites so far!!!  Amy ordered cupcakes, platter cookies, and cookie favors for her daughter's birthday.  She gave me this card for inspiration.
Cute, right?
Outlined and ready...
I swear I admire these more than the finished product!
Remember how I handcut the last order for kitty cookies?  Well, not this time!
I took my tulip cutter and smooshed it in the middle
to get the cat shape.  I was thrilled when it actually worked!
I was really excited to step out of my comfort
zone here and outline the flower in black.
I thought it would really coordinate.
Splash of sparkle!
(Excuse the heinous lighting.
I probably took this at 1am.)
I like it!!!
Not only did I have a large tulip cutter,
I also had a mini!  TOO CUTE!
Itty bitty kitties!!!!
:)
Love the assortment!
Stepped out of my "sparkly number" comfort
zone too.  I guess it was a big day for me!
In the end, I loved the black outline.  Loved.
I also made a few dozen cupcakes!
Thanks so much, Amy!  This was a great order.
I hope Abigail's 5th birthday was great.
Your party skills were amazing and I may steal
some of those fabulous ideas for Paige's party in July.

Carnival Cupcakes!

Happy 1st Birthday to Jace!

So you've heard me refer to Robin.  Jace is her youngest son who turned 1 a few weeks ago!  In our home, he is known as "Baby Jace" and is loved by my 2 year old Paige.

Robin asked for cupcakes to match her carnival theme colors of red, blue and yellow.  Robin preferred more of a simple design that did not scream "CARNIVAL!!!"   I totally get that.  Off I went!

I baked 4 dozen chocolate and white cupcakes.
Okay.  I'm nuts.  I picked out the yellow, blue and red circle sprinkles.
I have nothing more to say.
Then I decorated like a mad woman!!!
Let's just say, I made A LOT of buttercream that day!
These were the centerpieces.
You can't see it very well, but there are
red chocolate number one lollies tucked in there.
SO DARLING and compliments of Ginger, Robin's mom.
(My picture does not do this justice,
as I was also tending to my own timid 2 year old at this point!)
And here she is...hanging on to her grandpa
while I snapped photos.
The girl needs time to warm up.
She's getting there.
So I am digressing from the cupcakes, but...
Robin coaxed Paige into getting some "ink."
There was a face painter at the party (of course)
and Paige wanted nothing to do with it...
until Robin talked her into it.
Hmmmm...what design?
She decided on a blue cat.  Two of her favorite things...
the color blue and a kitty.
Finally...a smile and looking for Robin's approval.
Not mine.  Hmmmm.

Okay...back to the cupcakes...
It's a carnival...the cupcakes can be GAWDY
(is that even the right spelling?)!
Yep, more of that color!
Cute from the side?
I always double line my cupcakes to let the true color show!

Did they taste good?  I'll let the pictures tell the story!!!
This is Jace's big bro, Johnny.
This 3 year old demanded her face paint be taken off to make room for
FROSTING!!!
:)
Frosting first!
We just had to see that smile again!
Happy FIRST Birthday, BIG BOY!!!!
